250 View commentsPresident Donald Trump's aggressive approach toward Canada has not ingratiated himself to his neighbor to the North according to a new poll, as citizens overwhelmingly view him a threat to the future of their country.
The latest DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners Poll shows that 73 percent of Canadian voters view Trump as the global leader who poses a greatest threat to Canada.
Of the 73 percent, 61 percent who cited Trump as the biggest threat to Canada are from the Conservative Party, 81 percent of the Liberal party, and 82 percent of the New Democratic Party.
The poll was conducted of over 1,000 Canadian adults between April 9 and 11.
Canadians in the poll identified the second greatest threat is Chinese President Xi Jinping with just nine percent of voters agreeing and six percent declaring Russian President Vladimir Putin as the greatest threat.
Just 16 percent of Canadians gave a positive rating for Trump while 72 percent feel negative about him.
Of the words used to describe Trump, 'arrogant,' 'idiot,' and 'bully' were among the words most commonly according to the polls.
Sixty-one percent said they viewed Trump as 'most like' Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Since Trump returned to the presidency for his second term, he has routinely bullied Canada with rhetoric urging the country to join the United States as the '51st state.'
The president has also sparked anger from the populace by enacting punishing tariffs on Canadian exports.
'We cannot pay the deficits of Canada, Mexico and so many other countries. We used to do it; we can't do it anymore,' he said during a White House event on tariffs.
The poll found that Liberal leader Mark Carney holds a slight edge over Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.
Respondents backed Carney with 39 percent of the vote while 37 percent went for Poilievre.
The election will take place Monday, April 28, 2025
The remaining 22 percent was split among fourth other candidates from different parties.
The margin of error was 3.4 percent.
The second most importation issue for Canadian voters behind installing a stable government, is to pick a candidate for Prime Minister who will stand up to Trump.
'It is too close to call, with the Liberals with a two-point lead over the Conservatives,' J.L. Partners co-founder James Johnson told DailyMail.com about the results, describing the upcoming election as the 'Trump election.'
